Sands China to open revamped The Venetian Arena this month Ben Blaschke by Ben Blaschke Wed 6 Nov 2024 at 04:03 asgam.com/2024/11/06/sands-china-to-open-revamped-the-venetian-arena-this-month/Sands China’s revamped The Venetian Arena will open this month, the company has confirmed, in what shapes as a major step towards full operations. The update formed part of a press release issued Tuesday in which Sands China said The Venetian Arena had successfully completed a large-scale fire drill comprising 400 team members who tested the emergency response procedures and evacuation plan for the arena. Previously known as Cotai Arena, the facility was closed in January for major renovation works with company management stating in recent earnings calls that the closure, as well as a renovation of one of The Londoner Macao’s two casinos and an ongoing revamp of the 4,000-room Sheraton Grand, had significantly impacted visitation and revenues. The casino, now known as Londoner Grand Casino, reopened in August while Sheraton is slated to reopen in May as the Londoner Grand Hotel. Sands China said Tuesday that the new-look The Venetian Arena features state-of-the-art VIP amenities and suites, new decor, and technical upgrades that ensure it offers the best arena acoustics in Macau. Sean McCreery, Executive Vice President of Operations, said of the recent fire drill and testing, “Sands China places the safety of our guests, visitors, and team members as one of our highest priorities. “We are grateful to the Fire Services Bureau and the Public Security Police Force for their cooperation and support, and to our team members from different departments for their exemplary response. It was their concerted effort that made the fire drill a successful one, ensuring that all emergency response measures are in place for the reopening of The Venetian Arena later this month.”
