The 71st Macau Grand Prix will be held over four days from 14 to 17 November and include seven events: the FIA FR World Cup, Macau GT Cup, Macau Guia Race, Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix, Greater Bay Area GT Cup, Macau Roadsport Challenge and Macau SAR Establishment Cup. However, the traditional Formula 3 “main event” is not on this year’s schedule. According to information from the Grand Prix committee, the MOP$100 million in sponsorship being contributed by the concessionaires includes MOP$20 million each from Galaxy, Sands, SJM and MGM and MOP$10 million each from Melco and Wynn. Last year all six concessionaires sponsored for MOP$20 million each. Director of the Macau Sports Bureau, Luís Gomes, said, “The budget for this year’s Grand Prix is MOP$240 million (US$29.9 million) and there are currently about 180 drivers from 35 countries and regions participating.” This means the concessionaire sponsorships account for around 41.6% of the Grand Prix budget, a decrease from 46.1% last year. This year’s Grand Prix is also different from last year’s 70th anniversary in that it will return to a straight four-day format as opposed to 2023 when it ran for six days across two consecutive weekends.
