The number of licensed junkets in Macau rises to 24 by Pierce Chan Tue 8 Oct 2024 at 13:49 www.asgam.com/index.php/2024/10/08/the-number-of-licensed-junkets-in-macau-rises-to-24/According to data from Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), the number of junkets in Macau has increased to 24, while the number of approved agents has risen to 12. As per the amended Gaming Junkets Law, each licensed junket can only cooperate with one concessionaire – although each concessionaire can deal with multiple junkets – revenue share agreements are not permitted and junkets are limited to a maximum commission of 1.25% of rolling. Junkets, agents and casino management companies must provide guarantees of MOP$1.5 million, MOP$500,000 and MOP$1.5 million respectively to be issued a licensed, while the registered capital of gaming intermediary companies must be at least MOP$10 million. As previously reported by IAG, the number of licensed junkets in Macau had been cut to just 18 as of 1 January 2024, down from 35 last year, however latest figures show that this number has now risen. The likes of Haishen Group, Hoi Seng, Chong Fat (Macau) Limited and Pacific Intermediário Sociedade Unipessoal Lda are among those still in operation while new additions to the list include VEGA STAR Ltd and Companhia De Ensemble Ltd. The DICJ has also announced that the maximum number of junket licenses on offer in 2025 will remain at 50, the same as this year.
