Macau visitor arrivals up 14% year-on-year to 2.6 million in April by Newsdesk Wed 22 May 2024 www.asgam.com/index.php/2024/05/22/macau-visitor-arrivals-up-14-year-on-year-to-2-6-million-in-april/Macau welcomed a total of 2,600,717 visitor arrivals in April, up 14.4% year-on-year and representing 75.8% of arrivals during the same month in 2019. It was, however, down 4.4% month-on-month according to information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). The April tally included 1,349,927 same-day visitors, up 23.0%, and 1,250,790 overnight visitors, up 6.3%, with the average length of stay holding steady versus April 2023 at 1.2 days. Visitation from mainland China grew by 25.3% year-on-year to 1,737,314, although those travelling under the Individual Visit Scheme fell by 3.0% to 793,351. Visitors from Hong Kong (581,646) dropped by 22.0% year-on-year while those from Taiwan (73,460) grew by 120.6%. International visitors jumped by 91.9% year-on-year to 208,297 in April, back to 68.6% April 2019 levels, and included 38,851 from the Philippines, 37,493 from South Korea, 19,571 from Indonesia, 17,942 from Malaysia and 16,492 from Thailand. For the first four months of 2024 combined, the number of visitor arrivals grew by 58.9% year-on-year to 11,476,474, recovering to 83.2% of 2019 levels, however the average length of stay dropped by 0.1 days to 1.2 days.
