According to data released by the local regulator, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), the April tally marked a 26 percent increase from the previous year. The result also represents a 21.4 percent decrease from the MOP23.6 billion ($2.91 billion) reported in April 2019, before the pandemic. For the first four months of 2024, Macau’s casino GGR reached MOP75.87 billion ($9.36 billion), up 53.7 percent from last year, but still 23.9 percent lower than the same period in 2019, which was MOP99.74 billion ($12.30 billion). The Easter holidays (March 29th – April 1st) only had one day that fell in April. Besides that, the Ching Ming holiday in mainland China is a public holiday, which falls on April 4th-6th. Macau welcomed a total of 425,428 visitor arrivals during the four-day Ching Ming Festival holiday period (including April 7th, Sunday). Visitor arrivals reached 136,363 on the actual day of the festival on April 4th.”
