The tally represented 80.3% of total visitor arrivals in February 2019. According to data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), the main source of visitor arrivals in March was mainland China, with a total of 1,786,536 arrivals, up 43.8% year-on-year. This was followed by Hong Kong (662,887 arrivals) and Taiwan (62,605 arrivals), up 6.5% and 135% respectively. The Philippines led international visitation with 40,686 arrivals, a 164% year-on-year increase, followed by Korea with 37,123 arrivals, up 665%. Same-day visitors (1,443,963) and overnight visitors (1,276,621) in March increased by 47.7% and 30.4% year-on-year respectively, while the average length of stay remained unchanged at 1.2 days. The March tally comes after the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced last week a total of 8,875,757 visitor arrivals for the first quarter, representing a 79.4% year-on-year increase.
