I've been questioned about this by some on this forum. Here is the explanation.
We are all aware that Bernie Sanders first blazed this trail by declaring that he is
a "democrat-socialist". There was a lot of consternation about this, because it is
historically correct that any society that excessively adopts socialist governance
policies undermines the overall wealth of their economy over time, at all levels
of affluence. It was inevitable that a democrat politician would eventually adopt
the "socialist" moniker, despite it's universal association with economic decay.
Fast forward to 2021, when Senator Sanders teamed with Biden's economic
team to fashion a huge spending package which, when combined with other spending
bills being passed in that congress, would have pushed total spending well in excess
of $10 Trillion dollars. It was Mr. Sander's lifelong dream to pass a social spending
bill of this magnitude:
Most startling, was that every "democrat" in the U.S. Senate, except 2, supported
Bernie's massive bill and most of those senators had been on board with Bernie with
over 90% of the many spending bills that were occurring in those 2 years of excess.

The bill was deceptively advertised as a $3.5 Trillion bill, but as is typical with all
bills, left or right, that was very deceptive (remember the "inflation reduction" bill?)
It's cost was more accurately calculated at over $5 Trillion:
www.cnbc.com/2021/05/27/bidens-budget-will-include-5-trillion-in-new-federal-spending-over-the-next-decade.html
The fact that literally every democrat jumped on this band-wagon with Bernie, every
one except 2 (Manchin & Sinema) was a watershed event. They were all moving
decisively into Bernie's way of thinking toward massive social spending reminiscent of
what Hugo Chavez had enacted in Venezuela.
So even though only Bernie has proudly adopted the "democrat-socialist" moniker, the
rest of the party, save a few so-called "moderates", have effectively joined his new party,
both during 2021's social spending spree, and with today's congressional discourse.
The John Breauxs and Joe Liebermans of the party were banished years ago, and
Manchin and Sinema are fading as well as they've stopped fighting the leftward inertia
and removed their names from their respective re-election ballots for next November.
So yes, the fact that the old "democrat" party has transformed itself into Bernie's
"democrat-socialist" party isn't my idea. They simply did the transformation themselves
over the past few years, and it's high time people started calling a spade, a spade.
I have no interest in discussing this further. Feel free to comment on this post, but I
will not participate further.
