Transocean drillship gets fresh drilling gig PROJECT & TENDERS January 6, 2022, by Nermina Kulovic www.offshore-energy.biz/transocean-drillship-gets-fresh-drilling-gig/Offshore drilling contractor Transocean has won a new contract for one of its drillships with the U.S. Gulf of Mexico operator, EnVen Energy Corporation. In an update on Wednesday, EnVen Energy said it had executed a drilling contract with Transocean for the use of the Transocean Discoverer Inspiration, an ultra-deepwater drillship. No further details have been revealed about the contract. According to Transocean’s latest fleet status report, the drillship is currently under contract with Hess in the Gulf of Mexico. The nine-well contract with Hess was announced in July last year with a day rate of $215,000. It started last October and is scheduled to end in May 2022.

I haven't seen anything of the dayrate with EnVen, but it's certain that it'll be more than the $215k it's currently fetching. Thigpen was pretty emphatic in the october earnings call that Transocean isn't going to do anything short of $290k by now.
With new fixtures happening on boats with 6 months left on current fixtures, it appears we're fast approaching a day when customers aren't going to want to wait forever for a hot boat to be available and will begin to express more willingness to help bankroll some reactivations of stacked units at rates that are acceptable to the company.
Note that this announcement came from EnVen, not Transocean. Historically, Transocean doesn't announce smaller commitments like this, only bigger, multi-year ones, outside of it's usual quarterly fleet update.
